Markham was born in Manatee County, Florida, the son of Millie Content (née Willbur) and Jesse Edward Markham, Sr., who was a merchant. Markham's many television credits include Cold Case, Mission: Impossible, Here Come the Brides, The Mod Squad, The Virginian, Ellery Queen, Hogan's Heroes, The High Chaparral, The Mary
