Summertime Rendering

Upon returning to his hometown, Shinpei Ajiro realizes that there is a darkness brewing on the island that is about to be unleashed.

Shinpei digs deeper into the mystery of the shadows after looping back to the day of his arrival, and discovers a startling truth about Mio.

Shinpei, who was killed by Mio, the "shadow," repeats July 22 again. Shinpei survived the encounter, but he was stuck and decided confided everything with Sou.

On the night of the summer festival, a "shadow" of Ushio appears in front of Shinpei. Shinpei is confused, but he cannot hide his joy at the thought of talking with Ushio, whom he will never see again.

Shinpei is saved by a woman who was a passenger on the ferry. She also possessed a great deal of knowledge about "shadows". Shinpei goes to help, but his friends are killed one after another.

July 22nd, the fourth time. Hitogashima was Hizuru Minakata hometown too, and she had returned home for the first time in 14 years in order to unravel a mysterious message left on her cell phone.

Hizuru reads the loop record compiled by Shinpei and determines that what is happening to him is true. Although Hizuru refrains from saying much so as not to risk being revealed to the "shadows," she says that she will help Shinpei.

Ushio, like Shinpei, had looped back from the summer festival on the 24th.Surprised by the sudden turn of events, Shinpei tries to sort out the situation, but is suddenly and unexpectedly attacked by Mio's "shadow".

Shinpei and the others find out the real death cause of Ushio and Shiori.

Shinpei, Ushio, and Sou explore the caves underneath the island and learn more of its secret history.

Shinpei, Ushio, and Sou are surrounded by shadows. However, the shadows are only targeting Ushio.

Tokiko, says that she has been feeding dead people to Hiruko, calling them "food". Hiruko was Heine, a girl in kimono whom the "big shadow" who appeared at the Nittogashima Shrine on the day of the summer festival, had called her "Mother".

Shinpei tells Hizuru about his past experiences and she decides to trust Shinpei and work together with him.

Shinpei and Ushio learn more about the friendship between Hizuru and Haine, and discover what happened on the day when Ryunnosuke died. On the other side, Haine realizes that with each loop of Shinpei's, the starting point shrinks which makes it more difficult for the Shadows to be defeated.

Shinpei, Ushio, Mio, and a group of fighters take on the shadows at the high school gymnasium. Realizing that Shinpei only has a few loops left before actually dying, they execute a plan to take down Haine.

Mio reconciles with her shadow counterpart. Sou confronts his parents, whose history with Haine is exposed.

Ushio learns of Nezu's tragic backstory. Shinpei and the Wakayama fighters get ready for their confrontation with Haine by taking care of loose ends.

At long last, Shinpei and Ushio learn the history of the Shadows on the island, starting from Haine's arrival.

After Shadow Ushio's death, Shinpei realizes he is on his final loop. The Wakayama fighters are split as Hizuru challenges Shide to a one-on-one fight.

To save everyone, Hizuru and Ryuunosuke have one last trick up their sleeve. However, it comes at a cost.

On the day before the festival, Shinpei realizes that Ushio is still alive floating in the sea around the island. However, Haine also knows this and sends Shide to intercept Shinpei.

Now on the tenth loop, Shinpei springs a trap on Haine by directly returning by death in Hiruko Cave. Haine and multiple incarnations of Shide fight back.

Shinpei and Ryuunosuke follow Shide into a portal to Haine's domain, a twisted world where time has stopped and shadows roam the earth.

Shinpei has one last chance to erase Shide. With the world's fate hanging in balance and his body disintegrating, he prepares a shot.

Shinpei returns to his hometown after he and Ushio both have a strange dream. As the island celebrates the summer festival, he is struck by a sense of joy and relief.
