Overview
The true story of a controversial honeytrap at the heart of the 1992 police investigation into the murder of a young mother in London. Examining the complicated and toxic sexual politics of the early ‘90s and the police’s obsession with the wrong man, Deceit enters a dysfunctional world, where a female undercover officer, codename ‘Lizzie James’, is asked to become sexual bait for a suspected killer.

After the murder of a young mother in London, there's a climate of fear, and catching her killer becomes a national obsession. So police devise a controversial honeytrap fronted by a female officer.
Episode 2
The undercover operation gains momentum as prime suspect Colin Stagg starts to fall for covert officer 'Lizzie James'. But when the honeytrap is compromised, Detective Inspector Pedder must act fast.
Episode 3
Covert officer 'Lizzie' meets suspect Colin Stagg face-to-face and attempts to earn his trust. But as the weeks pass, the pressure she's under starts to take its toll.
Episode 4
While Colin Stagg is on remand in prison, another horrific murder occurs with some clear similarities. Is Stagg in fact an entirely innocent man?
