Long ago, this nation was known as the land of the samurai. The dream-filled Edo skies, upon which the samurai once gazed, are now filled with the ships of the Amanto, beings that suddenly invaded and rose to power. And now these arrogant aliens walk the streets of the city. The samurai have lost their swords, status, and even their honor… In this city former samurai Gintoki Sakata runs the Odd Jobs business. One day he receives a visit from a client named Katoken. To regain something he has lost, Katoken needs 30 million ryo—a lot of money. After listening to Katoken’s endless tale of misfortune, the Odd Jobs trio feels obliged to help out. Meanwhile, the Amanto Kariya and his men gather to plot the takeover of Edo city.

Gintoki manage to escape Shishimura’s sudden attack. Regrouping with Kagura and the others, he finds that their client Katoken was unable to stick with the training and has left. Gintoki finds Katoken drowning in his sorrows alone and joins him for a drink to share his wisdom: “No matter how much you try, you cannot escape from what you truly wish to forget.” Hearing those words, Katoken explains the reason behind his wanting to become stronger. Gintoki decides to lend a hand to help Katoken regain his most important treasure. Together with Kagura and Shinpachi, they march into the Drift Star Embassy… only to find themselves welcomed by a mountain full of food.

There’s a reason the yakuza are after her, and Shinpachi decides to help the girl escape. However…

The staff of Odd Jobs Gin is going about their usual daily bickering when a delivery scooter crashes into the Otose Snack House downstairs. Barely conscious, the postman begs the Odd Jobs Trio to deliver an important package in his place. Gintoki and the others reluctantly head to the address on the package, Embassy of Inui, the Dog Star system. But the package explodes, and the trio are mistaken as terrorists. The three attempt a hasty escape, but when Shinpachi is caught, he decides to take Gintoki and Kagura down with him, and the gatekeepers quickly corner the three. Just when everybody thinks they are done for, they are saved by Gintoki’s old acquaintance Kotaro Katsura, aka Zura. Secretly observing the whole incident, the government’s police force, the Shinsengumi, decides to make their move…

Although their actions result in saving everyone from Katsura’s bomb, Gintoki and the group are nonetheless held for police questioning. Convinced Odd Jobs Gin are behind the bombing, the police continue their interrogation, when Shinpachi, who was staring at the clock the whole time, finally snaps. Baffled by his raging fit, the police finally let the trio go. Ignoring Gintoki and Kagura who vent their resentment in front of the police station, Shinpachi leaves the scene in a hurry. Left behind, Gintoki and Kagura come across an escaped convict being chased by the police. The man takes Kagura hostage and orders Gintoki to take the wheel in the police car. When asked by Gintoki why he ran away the man answers, “Because today is a special day…”

Midland Star Prince Hata’s pet Pes disappears, and the Immigration Bureau, though resentful of the Amanto’s orders, ask Odd Jobs Gin to look for the missing pet. Hearing that the client is an Amanto, the Odd Jobs at first turn down the offer but quickly change their minds when they are presented with a stack of cash. So begins Gintoki and group’s hunt for the pet. Looking for any kind of lead, the group makes the rounds of the octopus fisherman at the piers, takoyaki stores, and bars, but Pes is nowhere to be found. With few options left, Gintoki brings out his ultimate weapon.

While the Shinsengumi strive to maintain peace in the city of Edo, their commander Kondou is busy sulking in front of Otae, who now works at a snack bar. Depressed, Kondou calls himself a good-for-nothing. Otae gently smiles and tells him that she would love a man for his whole self, including his weaknesses. With those words, Kondou falls in love with Otae and asks her to marry him, but receives a knock-out punch instead. Undaunted, Kondou uses all sorts of means to show his affection for the immovable Otae. Finally having enough of it, Otae drags Gintoki into the situation, but things take an unexpected turn…

From Hijikata to Okita, and Okita to the Shinsengumi, news quickly spreads of the commander losing in battle for a woman, stirring up commotion within the squad. To make matters worse, Kondou’s miserable loss is aired on TV, forcing Hijikata to figure out some way to gain back the Shinsengumi’s dignity. To do so, they must eliminate the silver-haired samurai who defeated Kondou. Hijikata joins the other members to search for Gintoki in town. Meanwhile, oblivious of single-handedly earning the Shinsengumi’s malice, Gintoki is yanked away to help with his client’s carpeting job. While the whining Gintoki helps out the client, the Shinsengumi closes in….

Prince Hata makes yet another visit to Edo. Heartbroken over the loss of Pes, the prince goes through every Edo city zoo determined to find the next cutest pet. Meanwhile, savoring her pickled seaweed, Kagura comes across a box left in front of the Odd Jobs Gin building. Her face lights up with a big smile when she finds an adorable animal in the box. The animal is a slightly…no, VERY big dog-like creature. Despite Gintoki’s protests, Kagura insists on keeping it. Kagura names the dog Sadaharu and plays rough with it, while Gintoki and Shinpachi grow exhausted from Sadaharu’s constant biting. What will Gintoki and Shinpachi do?

Gintoki and Kagura visit Shinpachi in the hospital after a car accident. Even in the hospital the Odd Jobs Trio is noisy as usual. An old man in the next room overhears their conversation and asks for their help. He requests that they look for a woman from the old man’s bittersweet memories. The only lead they have is a kanzashi, and that the kanzashi’s owner worked at a Dango shop. The Odd Jobs Trio begin their search but find that nobody seems to remember the Dango shop, and they quickly reach a dead-end. Kagura tries having Sadaharu trace the scent from the kanzashi, and the place Sadaharu leads them to is not at all what they expected…

One night Otose, the landlord of Gintoki’s Odd Jobs, comes across a starving cat-eared Amanto named Catherine in the back alley and hires her to work at the Otose Snack House. Otose comes to take a liking to the hard-working and considerate Catherine. The Odd Jobs Trio on the other hand find themselves under a tighter budget and constant hunger thanks to Kagura’s hearty appetite. Meanwhile, a string of robberies occur in the downtown district. One day, the police make a visit to the Otose Snack House to gather any information regarding the recent robberies.

Odd Jobs Gin receives a job to look for a missing person, the daughter of a distinguished government official who hasn’t returned home in days. Reluctantly accepting the client’s wish to settle the case quietly, the Odd Jobs Trio goes to gather information at a club where the girl was often sighted. Unable to get any useful leads and tired of looking, Kagura tries to nab a man who looks similar to the girl, when the man’s condition suddenly changes. According to a waiter, a weird drug is floating around this district. Meanwhile Gintoki is alone in the men’s room recovering from a massive hangover when somebody calls to him over the door.

Thanks to Gintoki and Katsura, the space pirates ship is brought down. Several antiforeigner factions use this opportunity to take down high government officials who profited from their illegal drug collusion with pirates and Amantos. The Shinsengumi is ordered to provide protection for the officials. Kondou unquestioningly carries out his duty, claiming that if it weren’t for the government the Shinsengumi wouldn’t be where it is today. But the members cannot hide their frustration toward the corrupt Amanto and government officials. Amidst all of this, Kondou is shot down by the antiforeigner faction, taking the hit intended for a frog Amanto they were assigned to protect. Just when the Shinsengumi’s frustration is about to explode, they hear Hijikata shouting…

飼い主とペットは似る

Gintoki finds himself forced into looking after Sadaharu and is soon exhausted. That’s when Katsura shows up with a peculiar creature. Seems this thing is a gift from the space merchant Sakamoto and is called Elizabeth. Gintoki is surprised at the fact that Katsura, who supposedly hates space creatures, would keep such a pet. Then Gintoki and the gang learn that a TV show is looking for weird animals to appear on their show. Blinded by the grand prize given to the winner, Gintoki and the gang decide to participate.

考えたら人生ってオッさんになってからの方が長いじゃねーか!怖っ!!

Kagura sees Hasegawa wasting his time at the park in broad daylight and asks what he’s doing. Since he was fired from the Immigration Bureau after punching Prince Hata on a passing whim, Hasegawa now walks down the path of a Dumb Old Retarded Kook, DORK for short. Ordered by his superior to commit seppuku, Hasegawa returns home to pack up and skip town only to find his wife has already left, saying she can’t deal being with a DORKH (Dumb Old Retarded Kook Husband). Having lost everything, the only friend Hasegawa has now is Gintoki, whom he met at the pachinko parlor.

親子ってのは嫌いなとこばかり似るもんだ

The Kabukicho Neighborhood Association, led by Otose, marches toward the doorstep of Edo’s No. 1 inventor, Gengai Hiraga. The association has had it with Gengai’s noisy building of useless junk. Recruited by Otose, the Odd Jobs Trio fights sound with sound by blasting music from their karaoke machine but are stopped by the sudden appearance of the robot Saburo. The Odd Jobs Trio then proceed to relocate Gengai’s workshop to the nearby riverbank, only to end up breaking Saburo and the other robots created by Gengai, who were to perform for the shogun at the upcoming festival. Meanwhile a dangerous man has set foot into Edo.

Shinpachi returns home with a gift for his sister—a doll that oddly resembles Elizabeth, with the name “Space Monster Stefan” printed on its chest. But what awaits Shinpachi is a deadly naginata swing by the raged Otae. While Shinpachi narrowly dodges the attack, Stefan falls prey to the naginata. As she tears Stefan apart, Otae explains the reason behind her fit. It appears the panty thief who’s recently been stirring things up in Edo city stole her panties. To soothe her sister’s anger, Shinpachi decides to ask for help from Gintoki.

There are men who try to earn an easy buck by settling their hopes on pachinko, only to fail miserably. Regretting their decision, Gintoki and Hasegawa are sucking on their ice candies bought with the dropped change they collected, when they overhear something about a moneymaking opportunity. A reward has been placed on a space creature that’s been haunting the beach. Gintoki and Hasegawa propose to fish out the alien and grab the reward, and the Odd Jobs gang head out to the beach. But what awaits them there is a deserted beach and an old man making yakisoba noodles at the beach house. And the reward in fact turns out to be…

One hot summer night, as mosquitoes fill the air, the Shinsengumi immerse themselves in sharing scary tales. Inayama tells the tale of a female ghost dressed in a red kimono haunting the schoolhouse at midnight, only to find that the same ghost has appeared in the Shinsengumi station as well! More than half of the team falls victim to the ghost, each muttering about a woman dressed in red. Frightened by the unseen danger, Kondou decides to hire an exorcist to handle the situation. But these exorcists seem awfully shady-looking.

男ならとりあえずカジキ 扇風機つけっぱなしで寝るとおなか壊しちゃうから気をつけて

Amidst a summer heat wave with no air conditioning, the Odd Jobs office quickly turns into a steam house. When Gintoki and Kagura fight over and break the Senpuki (fan), their only means of dealing with the heat, Gintoki reluctantly heads out to buy a new one – only to run into extreme difficulties. Every store tells him they no longer sell an obsolete product like the fan and recommends buying an AC instead, which is beyond Gintoki’s budget. Finally, Gintoki comes across a recycled goods shop called the “Earth Defense Army Base.” Upon entering the store, he finds himself embroiled with the female store owner’s battle to protect the “Senpuki (???)"…?!

結婚とは勘違いを一生涯し続けることだ

One morning Shinpachi makes his usual commute to the Odd Jobs to wake up Gintoki when he comes across an unbelievable sight. Right inside Gintoki’s room, sleeping next to him is a woman dressed in a kunoichi outfit! As she mixes some natto, the woman named Sachan tells Gintoki that that the two made a vow the night before to become husband and wife, even though the hung-over Gintoki has no recollection of what happened. Thus, the Odd Jobs are forced to let Sachan stay at their place as an unwelcome wife. Just when everyone thinks Ginotki’s unhappy days have begun, a single call for Sachan drastically changes matters….

Returning with the groceries, Kagura puts on a sudden arrogant attitude that is understandably justified - She won a trip to space at the local big-sale raffle! Without a moment of hesitation the Odd Jobs trio head off to the Space Port. Unfortunately Sadaharu cannot join as they are told no pets are allowed on board. Insisting on bringing Sadaharu with her, Kagura starts arguing with the staff while Sadaharu goes off to harass a man with shades sleeping at the departure lobby. Curiously, the man disappears into the crowd without noticing the giant animal biting at his head. Carrying the Odd Jobs trio, the space ship sets off, but a group calling themselves the “Moe Fighting Sprits” shows up to hijack the ship…

Mademoiselle Saigo: one of the Four Royals of Kabukicho and a girly man known as the “demon.” After calling this person a freak, Gintoki ends up being forced to cross-dress and work at the “Girly Boy Club” run by him (her?). At the club Gintoki comes across Katsura, who is also dressed as a woman. Katsura protests that he is merely waiting for the right moment to escape, but no matter how Gintoki looks at it, Katsura seems to have completely blended in with a life surrounded by girly men. One day the two encounter Saigo’s son Teruhiko, who is being bullied. Seeing that the boy is troubled, Katsura tries to console him, but…?

Gintama is celebrating its half-year run on the air! And so the Odd Jobs trio attempts to kill some time by airing some re-caps. But their true intentions are to draw away the others’ attention and eat as much meat as possible from the sukiyaki meal before them. Trying to read each other’s next moves, Gintoki and Shinpachi successfully trick Kagura and chow down, only to spill the pot all over the place. Realizing she’s been tricked, Kagura begins arguing with Gintoki. Amidst this gloomy atmosphere Shinpachi believes that in order to avoid another messy tragedy, it is imperative to secure the meat’s safety first. And at that moment another pot challenger arrives… with the battle for meat taking yet another turn for the chaotic.

On Hasegawa’s request the Odd Jobs trio take his place to work at the Oedo Mart Convenience store for the day, but Kagura and Gintoki’s half-baked attitudes cause nothing but trouble for the customers. The only one who’s working seriously, Shinpachi cannot help but sigh at his friends’ incompetence when he notice a punk trying to shoplift some goods. When Shinpachi catches the thief, he realizes it is Takachin, his childhood friend back from temple school. Ever since the day Shinpachi betrayed his trust, Takachin became a target for bullying. But now Takachin claims to be feared since joining a team called the “Bulldogs.” To save his friend from walking down the wrong path, Shinpachi breaks into the “Maltese” gathering.

At the Women’s Wrestling Arena Shinpachi roots for Otsu the fighting idol, Kagura gets all excited and storms into the ring, and Gintoki watches his friends in shame. Okita also happens to be there, and leads the trio down to the slums where they discover an underground coliseum called the “Rengokukan.” Investigating the high authorities’ support for these death matches, Okita points out Kidomaru, Rengokukan’s deadliest fighter in a demon mask, suggesting the Odd Jobs may find out something from following him. The gang scouts Kidomaru’s house, but...

On the morning astrology program Ms. Ketsuno declares with a smile that “Virgos with goatees who are brushing their teeth right now will die today...” Kondou, who was watching the show while brushing his teeth, can’t help but let out a wry sigh when Matsudaira thunders in, blasting away with his gun – the Shinsengumi’s involvement with the Rengokukan has come to light, and both are summoned to the castle. Baffled by Hijikata and Okita’s impulsive actions, Kondou enters a state of panic after learning he may be assassinated before arriving at the castle. Matsudaira, who now sees everything as possible assassins, summons Sachan as a counter measure to assassins. Hence the dangerous drive to the castle begins...

Part 1: “Star Destroyer,” the enchanted sword that can even cut through stars – searching for this legendary weapon, one man goes on a sword hunt night after night. The man’s name is Gankeimaru, an Amanto training to become the strongest warrior, and he has come to Earth in search of the ultimate weapon worthy of his strength. Meanwhile Gintoki and Shinpachi learn that Kagura has been buying massive amounts of products from the shopping channel, and tells her to return them all. Upset from having all her items confiscated, Kagura comes up with an idea after spotting Gintoki’s wooden sword. It’s just the start of another messy situation... Part 2: Kagura’s scream stirs up the Odd Jobs office. The cause? A cockroach! Thinking it’s an average cockroach, Gintoki and Shinpachi head out to kill it, only to retreat back on all fours. Why? Because it turns out to be a giant-sized cockroach! Around the same time, the TV reports multiple infestations of giant cockroaches throughout Edo city, and Prince Hata advises NOT to kill these Space Cockroaches, as it will attract more of them. Oblivious to such warnings, the Odd Jobs gang are about to exterminate the giant creature when it starts to scream...

Newcomer Idol Tsu Terakado and Boy Band “Hansamu” leader Goemon’s passionate affair revealed! – The news plunges Shinpachi and the fan club members into the depths of depression. Gintoki is also stunned after learning that his favorite weather reporter Ms. Ketsuno is married. But while Kagura smirks at the two losers, Otsu shows up at the Odd jobs office. Since the discovery of the relationship, Otsu has received numerous threatening letters and has come for Gintoki’s help, but she has no clue as to who the culprit is. Shinpachi is determined to protect Otsu with all his might by staying close to her...

Gintoki finds himself lying on the ground, witnessing the blue sky gradually changing into red. Losing consciousness at the spot, Gintoki is rushed to the hospital. Turns out while on his way to buy Jump magazine on his bike, Gintoki was hit by a car driver who was talking on his cell phone. Shipnachi and the others rush to the hospital to see the now-conscious Gintoki, but learn he has no recollection of his own self… In order to somehow return the now honest and likable Gintoki back to his “dullish” personality, Shinpachi and Kagura take him back to the Odd Jobs office. But despite their efforts there are no signs of his memory returning. To find other possible events that may trigger his memory, the Odd Jobs wander through the streets of Edo but…

Two weeks have passed since Gintoki declared the disbanding of the Odd Jobs business and disappeared into the streets of Edo. Kagura sit and eats her pickled seaweed alone inside the ruined Odd Jobs office, which was destroyed by a spaceship. When Shinpachi comes to pick her up, Kagura tells him that she will not give up until Gintoki returns with his memories. Meanwhile Shinsengumi intelligence agent Yamazaki has infiltrated the Mamushi Factory where he finds some unexpected faces – The amnesic Gintoki and Kondou! Working diligently with a lively look on his face, Gintoki is now the building specialist for the “Jastaway.” But after the Jastaway explodes, Gintoki gets mixed up in another mess…

Having recovered from his amnesia, Gintoki attempts to renegotiate his overdue rent with Otose in celebration of his life starting anew. Instead, Otose cold-heartedly declares that unless the destroyed Odd Jobs office is repaired within a week, she will kick him out. Having no other choice, the trio try their hands on doing some unaccustomed carpenter work, but the task proves to be too difficult for the three amateurs. Irritated, Kagura and Gintoki lose control and create further destruction, when they receive a package sent by Sakamoto. Inside they find a letter, along with two little men. The two claims to be portable carpenters and begin rebuilding the Odd Jobs office…

Members of the Otsu fan club are having a heated debate on the train about Otsu’s popularity being jeopardized by the appearance of TAMA, the cat-eared idol. After learning that fan club members are “cheating” with TAMA, Shinpachi delivers an iron-fisted punishment, which accidentally saves a girl who was being harassed by a drunken Matsudaira – and the girl turns out to be cat-eared! Shinpachi instantly falls for her cute looks, but panics after being asked out on a date by the girl, who is named Eromes. Shinpachi tries to deal with the situation by asking for help on a web message board, but this only leads to further problems as the day arrives for his fateful date…

Matsudaira summons Kondou, Hijikata, and Okita to the Ikedaya and informs the three of them that “You-know-who” is finally making his move. As tension runs high in the room, Matsudaira further declares it’s time for a “showdown.” Kondou and the others pledge their assistance to Matsudaira without really knowing whom this “You-know-who” is. When they find themselves at the amusement park and see a flirtatious man named Shichibei meet Kuriko, Matsudaira’s daughter, they realize Matsudaira is plotting to assassinate the man toying with his beloved daughter. Appalled by all of this, Hijikata decides to leave, but Kondou and Okita join in on the gig. And so begins the dramatic yet sad battle of men on a stake-out, ready to break up a couple’s date.

Finishing up their night job, Otae and Oryo walk home under the morning sunlight. While casually badmouthing their customers the two witness Hanako, the new kid at their bar, attempting to throw herself off a bridge. Otae quickly stops her and brings her home, where she learns the deeply troubled Hanako left her hometown of Osaka in order to become a dancer. Hanako then explains how she spent all her savings after joining the Dream Faith – a weird religious cult that promises to grant the power to make dreams come true. The Odd Jobs go undercover with Hanako’s help, but…

On his way back from buying Nikuman one snowy night, Gintoki comes across an old man dressed in red and a reindeer arguing. Gintoki offers his help after hearing Santa complain of being unable to finish his job after his sled was destroyed. When Gintoki brings a two-wheeled cart instead, Santa whines over how it needs to be a sled to preserve his reputation. But after being talked down by Gintoki, Santa ends up making his deliveries dressed in all black. And so begin the burglar-like Santa and Reindeer, AND Gintoki’s night of delivering dreams to the kids.

Heavy snow falls upon the city of Edo. Otose’s voice rings through the winter wonderland, signaling the start of the Kabukicho Snow Festival! The highlight of the festivities is a snow figure-building contest with grand prize money. Entering the contest for the money, the Odd Jobs trio builds a snow figure claiming to be the “Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon.” Despite Shinpachi’s protests, everyone who visits the sculpture compliments its perfection. But Gintoki and Kagura, concerned over the other contestants’ works, begin sabotaging other snow figures.

メニューが多いラーメン屋はたいてい流行ってない

While trying to force his way out of a Shinsengumi inspection, Katsura is hit by Okita's bazooka and injures his leg. He tries to escape by running across roofs, but he is mistaken for an underwear thief and is defeated by Ikumatsu, the owner of the ramen shop, Daigo Ramen. The next morning, Ikumatsu serves him ramen to apologize for the misunderstanding. While Katsura eats, Ikumatsu's brother-in-law noisily enters the shop with his henchmen. Kondou gets a tip from renowned alien buster Umibouzu and has the Shinsengumi set up a cordon. Meanwhile, Kagura has fallen for an “it's me” scam, which is causing a sensation in Edo. Kagura obediently follows instructions given by a man claiming to be Gintoki and rushes off to the bank. Unfortunately, the alien also happens to be at the same bank. Worried about Kagura, Gintoki and Shinpachi also arrive at the bank. But Kagura, who is being swallowed by the alien, catches the two and tries to bring them down together. At that very moment, Umibouzu appears before the bunch. Kagura is stunned to see him…

Jii ends up breaking a vial, which is the beginning of an incident that will toss Edo into chaos…

The alien continues to wreak havoc at the terminal when Gintoki appears on the scene with Sadaharu, only to be engulfed by the alien's tentacles. Meanwhile, Umibouzu finds Kagura fallen and injured after her attempt to save Prince Hata and Jii. Enraged, Umibouzu seizes the two when Kagura stops and tells how proud she was of using her powers to save someone. The alien attempts to capture Kagura with its tentacles. Just as the alien is about to swallow her, Gintoki and Sadaharu come charging out of the alien's mouth. Gintoki and Umibouzu insult each other as they join forces to fight the alien. Meanwhile, in the sky, a Shogunate Battleship led by Matsudaira has appeared!

But the Shinobi Five, led by Zenzo Hattori, stands in their way. Zenzo is still bitter about his scuffle with Gintoki over a Jump comic on New Year's Eve, while Sachan faces Kaoru, her rival from ninja school. In order to pay off the damages for Sadaharu's rampage, Ane not only has to let go of her savings but her shrine as well, and goes to work at Cabaret Smile. She is able to have her way with men and becomes the shop's drawing card. But she doesn't get along with Smile's other featured employee, Otae. The two clashes with each other, and when Otae beats up Ane's main customer, the owner of Kikuya, Smile's manager lays down a resolution. He's going to fire the person who has the least total sales the following day. A ruthless battle between women is about to begin! But that night, Otae tells Ane that she's not going to compete. And then the trio find themselves having to deliver a circular to Hedoro…
