Overview
VIGDIS is a four part drama-series based on the inspiring true story of the first woman in the world to be democratically elected president. The series tells Vigdis' story from when she was a teenager in the late 1940s up until she decides to run for president against three male candidates in 1980. Vigdis carries the aura of a winner, someone that has always succeeded without difficulty but the opposite is true in Vigdis' life. Despite endless obstacles she never stops dreaming of a brighter future. VIGDIS is an inspirational story of hope and integrity.

Episode 1
Vigdís is in high-school in post-war Iceland and longs for the same opportunities her younger brother has. She and her friends decide to push the boundaries to make themselves heard.
Episode 2
Vigdís is living in Paris and thriving in her studies when life takes a turn.
Episode 3
Vigdís is appointed artistic director of Reykjavik Theatre Company. At the same time she needs to master the greatest role of her life.
Episode 4
Vigdís decides to run for president of Iceland after a lot of encouragement. Many find the idea of a single mother as president absurd.
