Overview
Twinkles the Elephant is an American animated Total Television Productions series that aired as part of the NBC Saturday morning cartoon King Leonardo and His Short Subjects in 1960. The series was a tie-in with Twinkles cereal, and the titular elephant Twinkles served as the mascot. The character was actually created by Total Television. The segment was the only segment on Short Subjects to not return in later syndication, primarily due to the FCC whom were stern about television shows consisting of cereal brand characters, as well as the character being dated regardless due to the cereal's discontinuation.

Twinkles and the Musical Band
Twinkles and Sanford were talking with Thomas the Octopus, who missed hearing music since the showboat had left. Thomas mentioned he could play an instrument, and Sanford boasted about being the world's greatest musician. Twinkles suggested they start their own band, with Sanford teaching everyone how to play. They gathered their friends, picked out instruments, and gave a concert on the beach that very afternoon. When the music began, it sounded terrible except for Thomas's flute. Twinkles whispered an idea, and the band closed the curtain; moments later, a beautiful march played from behind it. The audience soon discovered that Thomas was playing all the instruments at once with his eight arms, becoming a one-man musical band!
