My Neighbour Can't Sleep

18-year-old Song Miduo, having just graduated and taken the college entrance exams, travels to Qiuyin Town with her parents for vacation. Her childhood friend, Lu Yiyou, invites her to stay at a villa he prepared for them, as he's from the town. Qiuyin Town is home to Sitian Music College, where Xi Song, a famous young pianist and lecturer, is well-known.

After a drunken night, Song Mi Duo wakes up at Xi Song’s house, with signs of her having climbed his balcony to get in. Xi Song, clearly annoyed, threatens her with legal action, warning her not to return to his house. Mi Duo, however, runs into Xi Song again at school, where she realizes he is the same "strange neighbor" she encountered earlier.

Song Mi Duo finds herself in a financial bind when Xi Song accuses her of breaking a valuable handmade crystal cup worth 50,000 yuan. When she can’t pay, he demands that she either agree to sleep with him or repay the money within two days. Mi Duo refuses to accept his proposition and promises to find a way to raise the funds.

After a torturous day of being tormented by Xi Song, Song Mi Duo was starving. She rushed to a roadside pancake stall, hoping to get something to eat before heading home. But afraid the vendor might recognize them, she grabbed two pancakes and ran, with the vendor chasing after them. During their mad dash, Xi Song lost the pancakes and was left hungry.

Song Mi Duo’s notebook was taken by Xi Song, and Liang Ge, Xi Song’s agent, thought Mi Duo was a fan who’d been making a scene to grab his attention. At home, Mi Duo, along with her mother and Xiao Mi, attempted to bake, but her culinary efforts were disastrous compared to Xiao Mi’s impressive skills.

Mi Duo has been acting strangely lately, with a poor appetite and staying home instead of going out to play. Her parents are worried, suspecting that she might be heartbroken. Mi Duo’s father asks Lu Yiyou to help cheer her up, and he does so in a very unconventional way—by dressing up in a doll costume.

Song Mi Duo was informed by Xi Song’s father that Su Li would soon be returning to China. Although she expected some reaction from Xi Song, he simply told her to go to bed and retreated to his bedroom. Mi Duo, wanting to deepen her relationship with him, initiated a conversation about the villa and Aunt Gu, who turned out to be the one responsible for Xi Song’s daily care.

On her last night staying at Xi Song's house, Song Mi Duo was unexpectedly confronted by Aunt Gu, who angrily accused her of disrespecting herself by living with a man. Mi Duo tried to deflect by claiming she was Xi Song’s distant relative and that his mother had sent her, but Aunt Gu didn’t believe her, scolding Mi Duo as morally corrupt.

Song Mido found Xiao Mi after several attempts around the campus. When she entered the practice room, Xiao Mi was startled, causing a cramp in her calf. Mido helped her sit down, and Xiao Mi noticed the wound on her face. Mido didn’t explain it, but Xiao Mi reassured her that she wasn’t upset with her anymore.

Song Mi Duo and Xiao Mi shared a cake, and when Xiao Mi thought Mi Duo was interested in her neighbor, she was told otherwise. Mi Duo explained that her neighbor, Xi Song, was an egomaniac. Xiao Mi then confessed she had fallen for a warm man, only to walk outside and see Xi Song standing on the neighboring balcony.

Mi Duo stayed at Xi Song's house, feeling uneasy when he made her sleep in his bedroom while he opted for the guest room, suspecting that she was merely a sleeping aid for him. The next day, Aunt Gu came to visit and confronted Mi Duo, suspicious of her intentions and warning her not to get too attached to Xi Song.

Mi Duo’s feelings for Xi Song grow stronger when his fan meeting is canceled, leaving him in a feverish state. Mi Duo, eager to care for him, rushes to his house, but she faces criticism from Aunt Gu, who blames her for the incident. However, when Xi Song, sick in bed, hears Mi Duo’s concern, he writes her a note, assuring her not to worry too much.

Song Mi Duo returned home to find Xi Song had eaten only instant noodles. Concerned, she cooked dinner for him, and afterward, they sat down to read comics. During the evening, Mi Duo asked Xi Song if he would let his career affect his feelings. While he thought his work could impact his relationships, Mi Duo defended the characters in the comic.

After her birthday party, Song Mi Duo tries to avoid Lu Yiyou, who desperately wants her to accept a ring. Just as she escapes, Xi Song’s fans rush by, and Mi Duo follows them, eventually meeting Xi Song. He pulls her into a sudden escape, and Mi Duo realizes he still cares for her. When she asks for a kiss as a birthday gift, Xi Song unexpectedly obliges.

The next morning, Song Mi Duo woke early, rushing out of the house in a hurry. Her father, who had already gotten up, thought he saw things wrong. Mi Duo wandered near Xi Song’s house, nervously observing the situation across the street. After the milkman made several rounds, she finally gathered enough courage to rush in.

Song Mi Duo had trouble counting change after buying water and left without it. She wandered around with five bottles of water, feeling tired and sad, before accidentally falling. Su Li, Aunt Gu, and Liang Ge eventually found her, but Xi Song was missing. A radio broadcast later revealed that Xi Song was waiting for her, and she rushed to find him.

Mi Duo, visiting Qiuyin Town for a vacation, knew she would have to leave next month unless she was accepted into Si Tian. She confided in Xi Song, revealing that she was pressured by her mother to pursue a career in music, even though she had no musical talent and preferred writing.

Mi Duo’s mother grows suspicious when she sees her daughter’s clothes on the sofa, the same ones worn by the girl with Xi Song in recent paparazzi photos. She sneaks through Mi Duo’s phone and finds messages confirming Mi Duo's visit to Liuting with her boyfriend.

Midu’s father wakes early to prepare breakfast and invites his wife to eat, but she is dressed up and ignores him, throwing seductive glances before leaving. She visits Aunt Gu, who tells her that Xi Song went to Hong Kong with Su Li and Liang Ge. Midu’s mother, frustrated, returns home and asks Lu Yiyou if Midu is dating Xi Song.

Su Li orchestrated a fake engagement story with Xi Song to grab media attention, leading to a whirlwind of rumors and public pressure on Song Midu. When she woke up, her parents were overly concerned, trying to shield her from the fake news, but Midu remained calm. She acknowledged that Su Li and Xi Song were an official couple, but she wasn’t bothered by it.

Xi Song confronted Su Li about the rumors involving them, firmly telling her that he had always viewed her as a sister and never considered a romantic relationship. Su Li, devastated by his words, cried alone after he left to find Mi Duo. Mi Duo’s parents, initially stunned that their daughter was dating someone like Xi Song, a famous idol.

After Su Li leaves, Xi Song hides on the balcony, waiting for her car to drive away before stepping out. There, he runs into Song Mido, who tries to cheer him up. Concerned that Mido might still be upset over previous events, Xi Song apologizes for Su Li's behavior.

Song Mi Duo is determined to repeat her studies to get into Si Tian, even though she has already been accepted into Novartis' Chinese Department. Her parents disagree, urging her to focus on her future, but Mi Duo is set on her path. Her boyfriend, Xi Song, becomes worried about her decision and tries to convince her to continue with Novartis.

Song Mi Duo thought her relationship with Xi Song had come to an end after her family left for their hometown. She called him repeatedly, but her calls went unanswered. At the same time, rumors about her and Xi Song swirled around campus. It seemed like their story was over.
