Overview
It is a nationwide search to find the best landscape artist. Filmed at picturesque locations around the UK, contestants paint National Trust properties for a chance to win a £10,000 commission for a British institution's permanent collection. Through several rounds, winners are selected to advance to the semifinal, and then to the final. Judging the competition are British art historian Kate Bryan, independent curator Kathleen Soriano, and award-winning artist Tai-Shan Schierenberg.

Derwentwater
Looking out over beautiful Derwentwater, the winner of this heat will go through to the semi-final and be one step closer to claiming the prize.
St James' Park
The artists are set up along the lake in London's St James' Park, looking out towards Buckingham Palace. They're hoping to create an artwork that catches the eye of judges.
Dover Port
The third heat takes place in the Port of Dover.
Skiddaw Mountain
The winner of this heat advances to the semi-final and takes another step closer to the prize - a £10,000 commission for the National Gallery of Ireland.
HMS Wellington
In the fifth heat, with no pods to protect them, the artists have climbed aboard a WWII warship, HMS Wellington, on the River Thames.
Dover Castle
The sixth heat takes place at Dover Castle.
Ouse Valley Viaduct
Stephen Mangan presents the semi-final of Landscape Artist of the Year at the historic Ouse Valley Viaduct in Sussex.
The Falkirk Wheel
Stephen Mangan hosts the grand finale with just three artists who have made it through to the last round of the competition.
Winner's Film
We join the winner of this year's Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year as they travel to County Mayo to research their £10,000 prize commission.
